'From five to six miles

I walk every day
In search of you,
Cherry blossoms.

Cherry blossoms
In the darkening sky,
And among them a melancholy

Using my fan
For a cup,
I pretended to drink
Under the scattering cherry.'
-Basho, The Narrow Road to the Deep North p.g 83

"This may be the most beautiful experience I've had. We took a ropeway car up Mount Nokogiriyama. Astonishingly green. Greeted at the top by a group of stray tabby cats. Later I found myself walking through surrounding farmland, snapping shots of farmers working in the sun. I read exerts from 'Basho' to Tori with a chorus of frogs supporting me."
