I spot a friendly face in amongst a busy city crowd. 'Anna!' I yell as I edge closer and reach her. Lifting her head she grins in my direction, a familiar smile, which is when I lift my camera and hit the shutter.
Photography has become, for me, a kind of visual diary: a means in which to organise, to collect, to archive my life experiences. It provides the tools to be more observant, finding light and clarity in the simplest of moments in the everyday.
Shooting, developing, and printing with film, maintains the physicality of these encounters; a process which nurtures to create something truly reflective of a moment; Its hands-on nature providing intimacy and adhering to my creative habits.
Having grown up in East Sussex, I am currently based in London.
